In the days following the shooting of four Northern Arizona University students in September 2015, Flagstaff clergy and lay leaders began meeting to discuss how the religious community should and could respond to this and other experiences of violence in our communities. The group sponsored the “Courage to Make Peace” events in February 2016, bringing members of local congregations together to better understand diverse perspectives on violence and nonviolence and to consider how we can act as a community to support peace.
NAIC also helped to establish the Flagstaff Police Department Citizen Liaison Committee, which works to address issues of concern to the community regarding public safety and law enforcement. The CLC holds community meetings four times per year. Join us for the next meeting of the CLC:
